Records that know a cat isn't a small dog
Cairn's veterinary pack makes animals first-class patients: species-aware charts, veterinary terminology, protocol-driven vaccines, and dosing math that respects the lb/kg line.
Animal patients, modeled properly
Species, breed, sex/neuter status, and weight history are structure, not free text. Households are real: two owners, a breeder, a rescue, a rehomed pet. Relationships carry roles and dates, not a single "owner" field.
Species-aware reference ranges
Lab values are flagged against the ranges for that species. A potassium that's normal for a cat isn't judged against a dog's chart. Built on VetSCT, the veterinary extension of the terminology standard human medicine uses.
Vaccines, protocols, reminders
Define your protocols once: rabies, DA2PP, FVRCP, lifestyle vaccines. Cairn tracks what's due, generates the reminder sequence, and records the lot, site, and route when given.
Rabies certificates & documents
Certificates generate from the structured record (patient, vaccine, lot, veterinarian) as signed PDFs, not retyped forms. Same for records summaries and travel paperwork.
Weight-safe dosing
The lb↔kg mix-up is a real dosing hazard. Cairn computes doses in kilograms internally, always carries explicit units, and shows pounds where your team prefers to read them.
Controlled substances
A dispensing log that's audit-ready by construction, with jurisdiction-aware rules applied by your practice's location. Not a spiral notebook next to the safe.
The veterinary pack, explained
Cairn is a clinical platform with a veterinary pack loaded on top. The pack holds the animal patient model, VetSCT terminology, species reference ranges, vet forms, and order sets.
That structure is why customization is configuration rather than code. The core keeps improving without disturbing your clinic's setup. Veterinary is our first and current focus.
